Paul Hausser

SS-Oberstgruppenführer und Generaloberst der Waffen-SS Paul "Papa" Hausser (October 7, 1880 - December 21, 1972) was from the Prussian military family who later followed his parent tradition by becoming a member of the Kaiserliche Armee (AD Imperial Germany) in 1892. After " nyambi "at the Kaiserliche Marine, Hausser returned to the Army by becoming a staff officer, a post he occupied until the end of the First World War. He was one of the 100,000 members of the Reichswehr (AB of the Weimar Republic) formed in 1919. His sympathy with the right-wing movement that tried to revive the nationalism of the German people led Hausser to join Stahlhelm's organization in 1933, having previously retired a year earlier. Shortly Stahlhelm was put into the Nazi branch, and then Hausser became a member of SA and SS. His military experience in the past led him to oversee the establishment of the SS military wing (later Waffen-SS) in 1934. Hausser later became the SS-VT Commander (SS-Verfügungstruppe) from October 9, 1939 to October 14, 1941, and actively led his troops in the German invasion of France and Russia. Because of his very concern for the welfare of the soldiers under his command, Hausser got a sympathetic call "Papa" among his men. On the East Front's frontline he was badly wounded in battle and lost sight in his right eye, while his position as Division Commander (now SS-Division "Reich") was replaced by Willi Bittrich. After recovering, Hausser was later believed to be Commander II. SS-Panzerkorps, the first corps-level organization dedicated to the Waffen-SS divisions. From here his career continued to climb, until he became Commander Heeresgruppe G in the final months of World War II. After the war he was active in the HIAG organization containing former Waffen-SS members and was accused of Neo-Nazi ideology. Two books had been made before he died at the age of 92 in 1972. Because of his services in the formation of SS armed militias, Paul Hausser was generally regarded as the "father" of the Waffen-SS. Medals and awards it receives: Flieger Beobachterabzeichen; 1914 Eisernes Kreuz II.Klasse (1914) und I.Klasse (1915/16); Bayerischer Militärverdienstorden IV.Klasse mit Schwerten; Ritterkreuz des Sächsischen Albrechtsordens I.Klasse mit Schwertern; Ritterkreuz I.Klasse des Württemburgischen Friedrichs-Ordens mit Schwertern; Anhaltisches Friedrichs-Kreuz; Königlich-preußischen Ritterkreuz des Hausorden von Hohenzollern mit Schwertern; Österreichisch-ungarisch Militär-Verdienstkreuz III.Klasse mit Kriegsdekoration (11 July 1918); Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer 1914/1918; Ehrendegen des Reichsführer-SS; Totenkopfring der SS; Julleuchter; 1939 spange zum 1914 Eisernes Kreuz II.Klasse (7 September 1939) und I.Klasse (June 17, 1940); Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber (May 9, 1942); Goldenes Parteiabzeichen der NSDAP  (January 30, 1943); and  Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes (August 8, 1941) mit Eichenlaub # 261 (July 28, 1943) und Schwerter # 90 (August 26, 1944).
